What a fantastic start to our gala season at Stretford leisure centre today. Our swimmers have done us proud with countless PB’s and even some county times bagged!

Preston summer spectacular definitely lived up to its name this weekend with fantastic swims from all our swimmers with countless PBs and fab results. Shout outs to our medalists this weekend -

Wigan Future Stars Gala 21st and 22nd June 25
St Helens Swimming Club Shines at Wigan Future Stars Gala
St Helens Swimming Club, proudly sponsored by Veolia UK and ROAST, delivered an outstanding performance at the Wigan Future Stars Level 3 Gala, hosted by Wigan Best.
Saturday morning kicked off with fantastic swims and some cracking personal bests. In the 200m IM, Edith placed 8th with a huge 10-second PB, while Lilly came 6th. Freddie had an incredible swim in the 400m IM, placing 4th with a PB. The 100m freestyle saw more PBs from Edith (17th), Freya A (8th), Rose (4th), and Lilly (10th). Max powered to 2nd in the 50m breaststroke, and Izzy took 3rd in the 200m breaststroke with a PB. Freddie dominated the 100m butterfly, taking 1st place. In the 50m backstroke, Edith, Freya A, Freya G, and Steph all swam PBs, with Rose finishing 9th. Max secured 2nd in the 200m freestyle with a 7-second PB.
It was a scorching Saturday afternoon at Wigan Best, but that didn’t stop our swimmers from delivering fantastic performances and showing brilliant team spirit! In the 100m IM, Miles placed 6th with a PB and Jaxon took 3rd, also with a PB. Lilly secured 3rd in the 400m Freestyle. Izzy placed 6th in the 50m Butterfly with a PB, while Ruby came 13th. In the 100m Backstroke, Oliver earned 6th with a PB. Izzy impressed again in the 100m Breaststroke with a 2nd place PB. Ruby and Lilly followed in 13th and 14th respectively. Great PBs and support all round!
Sunday at Wigan Future Stars saw our small but mighty team deliver big performances! In the morning session, Max smashed the 200m IM with a huge PB to place 3rd, and Lilly impressed in her first-ever 400m IM. Freya A placed 7th in the 50m breast with a strong PB, while Max came 4th in the 200m breast. Freya A also stormed to 2nd in the 200m free with another big PB.
In the afternoon, Oliver earned 6th in the 400m free and a PB, then hit a county time in the 200m back. Freddie swam well despite a DQ.
Well done to all swimmers , coaches and team managers for the work this weekend!!

Saturday morning, Charlie CC and Izzy represented our club superbly.
The afternoon session we had
200m Breaststroke - Izzy with 🥉 and Sofia with great PB. Max also swam 200m breaststroke and got himself a massive PB and 🥈 .
Lilly swam 100m Fly and got🥇 with a PB. Shortly after swimming 400m Free and getting another PB and 🥇.
Oliver had a long wait for 50m Back but managed to get himself a PB and 🥇

Burnley Bobcats January 4th & 5th 2025
Izzy Wainwright led from the front taking gold in the 50m, 100m & 200m Breaststroke events, all in county qualifying times, whilst Harry Glover picked up gold in the 50m Freestyle, silver in the 100m Freestyle and bronze in the 50m Butterfly.
Some great sprints from Jaxon Pullen saw him claim gold in the 50m Butterfly and bronze in the 50m Freestyle, and there was a bronze for Oliver Crosby in the 100m Backstroke.
Ruby Pullen set Personal Bests in the 50m Breaststroke and 50m Freestyle with Henry Harrison securing a county time in the 50m Freestyle and Ava Whittle doing likewise in the 50m Backstroke.
